I am really excited about this class! I think that creativity is going to be refreshing for me to dive back into. I have had a lot of history classes that involve writing critically and not as much for enjoyment. I think the idea of taking inspiration from readings we do and forming it into our own creative work is a really cool concept that I wasn't expecting from this class.
I am really interested to learn more about the storybook assignment, and also a bit intimidated. It seems like a lot of creativity and I'm nervous that I will not come up with a clever idea. However, I will try my hardest to start thinking about the books I read that I enjoyed and what they had in them that I thought was smart and want to apply to my own.
I am excited that the majority of the assignments in this class are reading and writing based. As a PR major, we have a lot of project-based classes and I feel like that is my strong suit. When I am in classes that focus around a midterm and final I feel like I worry so much more about memorization and I try to get through the material as quickly as possible which is not preferable. This specific format is something I think I could do well with because a lot of what we are creating is perfectly acceptable. I don't have to interpret something the correct way, I can read and utilize my reading to analyze however I want to and it will be correct because it is objectively my own interpretation.
The extra credit opportunities are also really nice to see. If we get caught up in all of the work there is a way for us to be able to catch back up and give ourselves a chance to succeed and I think it is nice to see that in a class with this template. The same mentality of the Growth Mindset is applied here, if we have the opportunity to succeed we can.
