Biography: Tiny Tales from the Ramayana

Vali's head would explode if he set foot on the hill, so he tormented his brother by kicking his brother in the head flying over his head without setting foot on the hill. Hanuman said he would grab his foot and pull him to the ground, so Vali stopped. Rama couldn't tell Sugriva and Vali apart so he did not shoot when they fought, but Sugriva wore a flower crown to show the difference.

Sugriva assembled the monkeys to search for Sita, he gave them 1 month to return with news of where she would be. Rama gave a ring with his name engraved in it to them so if they should find Sita, she would know he was looking for her.

Sampati and Jatayu raced to the sun, they both were flying and the heat was intense. Sampati raced in front of Jatayu to protect him and scorched his wings to save him.

Hanuman has forgotten his powers, his father was the wind god. He tried to touch the sun and the gods blessed him, but he does not remember. Hanuman towered over all the other monkeys and climbed the mountain, he launched himself toward Lanka. The sea monster tried to eat Hanuman, but he made himself large then small again to escape her teeth.

Ramana tried to seduce Sita, she said that he should make peace with Rama. She disagreed, and he threatened to eat her in two months if she does not marry him. Hanuman saw this whole exchange. Sita tried to kill herself with her own braid of her hair. Hanuman spoke to her of the story of Rama and Sita, and told her about the monkeys search for her. He showed her Rama's ring that she gave to him. Sita would not let Hanuman take her away, and said that only Rama could free her.

Hanuman warned Ravana and allowed him to capture Hanuman, but he tried to help and save his life. Ravana's sister said he could not kill the messenger it is not okay! Ravana said he would burn Hanuman's tail to get back at him without killing him. Hanuman set the whole palace on fire, then all of Lanka except the Ashoka grove where Sita was praying. He set every house on fire one by one with his tail.

Rama had been waiting, no news had come and much time had passed. They gave Vibishana refuge because he spoke out against his brother's kidnapping of Sita. Nala, son of architect of the gods, built them a bridge across the ocean. They saw a woman's body in the water, it was Sita. Hanuman was suspicious, he lit the body on fire and the corpse rose up and shrieked. It was an evil sorcerous, she left in anger.

A rukshasa who removes his blindfold incinerates all he gazes at, so they put a mirror in front of him and he incinerated himself. They realize there cannot be peace with Ravana, they had to have war.
